Addiction Treatment Philosophy
Addiction is an exceptionally complex medical condition that affects the mind, body, and spirit. The good news is that through comprehensive treatment and ongoing management, people who experience addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders can enter recovery, restore physical and mental health, and lead full lives.
The effects of addiction are pervasive, impacting families and relationships, and putting people at risk for physical, legal, and financial problems. Multiple factors lead to the development of substance use and mental health disorders. A person’s genetic disposition, a history of adverse life events and trauma, a family history of addiction, environment, the availability of addictive substances, and other factors may play a role. The multifaceted nature of the disease and its causes and triggers requires a comprehensive treatment approach that identifies and addresses underlying causes, treats physical and mental health effects, and helps patients develop lasting resilience and support.
Recovery Ways takes a deeply holistic approach that thoroughly assesses patients and tailors highly-individualized treatment plans to address each person’s full range of needs.
Our programming includes individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy, trauma therapies including EMDR and Mind-Body Bridging, occupational therapy, pharmacotherapy, relapse prevention training, spiritual work, and social reintegration. We introduce patients to a range of 12-Step-based groups such as AA, NA, Refuge Recovery, and SMART Recovery.
We believe strongly in the value and importance of family therapy and involvement. At Recovery Ways, family therapy is initiated early in the treatment process. Family members are taught how to recognize relapse triggers and how to play a role in preventing problems before they emerge. Families also learn how to help their loved ones continue their recovery journey.
